Brenda Stubbard

Brenda Stubbert is a highly skilled fiddler, pianist, and composer who is renowned for her contribution to Cape Breton fiddle music. Growing up in the Northside of Industrial Cape Breton, she was surrounded by talented musicians, including her father, a respected fiddler and composer who was influenced by Irish tradition, as well as Winston Scotty Fitzgerald, Johnny Wilmot, and Joe Confiant. As one of Cape Breton's top composers, Brenda has published two books of her compositions, and her tunes are played in Celtic fiddle music performances worldwide. Brenda is consistently in high demand across Cape Breton, and her dances are lively and well-attended. She has released seven albums since 1986, including Endless Memories (2008), which won the East Coast Music Award for Traditional Recording of the Year, and Different Strokes with Different Folks (2011), her most recent album.
