Joe MacMaster

Joe MacMaster has swiftly established himself as a rising star in the Cape Breton music scene, earning high praise from Ashley MacIsaac as the newest powerhouse of Route 19. Equipped with his exceptional talent in playing the pipes, fiddle, and piano, Joe has become a regular performer at local dances and ceilidhs in and around Cape Breton. He has toured across the United States alongside Natalie MacMaster, graced Ontario with his music on multiple occasions, and even appeared at the Edmonton Folk Festival. As a Troy native, Joe is one of the younger members of the renowned MacMaster fiddling dynasty. He attributes his musical prowess to his grand-uncle Buddy MacMaster, his aunt Natalie MacMaster, Kenneth MacKenzie, and Mac Morin. While famous for his traditional style and repertoire, Joe is also an accomplished composer with several notable tunes. Joe is an alumnus of Na Gaisgich Òga and Féis Cape Breton, two programs that foster youth Gaelic fluency and traditional music skills. Currently, Joe is a student at St. Augustin.
