Lewis MacKinnon

Meet Lewis MacKinnon, the Executive Director of Gaelic Affairs for the Province of Nova Scotia. Despite his impressive title, many still remember him as the young man from Dunmore Road in Antigonish County who can speak and sing in Gaelic. Lewis MacKinnon is a talented musician who performs solo and as part of the East Coast group, the Jug in Hand Band. His repertoire includes songs in English, Scottish Gaelic, and Irish, and he has captivated audiences in coffee shops, pubs, and concert halls across Eastern Canada, New England, Scotland, and Ireland.

In 2006, Lewis MacKinnon released an all-Gaelic album called "A' Seo" ("Here"), which earned him an ECMA nomination in the Roots/Traditional category. His first all-English solo album, "Making More Of It," was completed in 2010. Additionally, he has written a book of poetry called "Famhair" (Giant). Lewis MacKinnon's powerful baritone voice and rhythmic guitar playing are not to be missed.
