Marielle Lesperance

Marielle Lespérance is an accomplished highland dancer, holding impressive titles including 6-time World Champion, 8-time Commonwealth Champion, and 13-time Canadian Champion. As the current Adult World Highland Dance Champion, she is committed to promoting and sharing her love for highland dance through teaching, performance, and competition. Marielle is a member of the British Association of Teachers of Dance and serves as a Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing judge. She has shared her expertise by lecturing and leading dance workshops across Canada, the United States, Scotland, Ireland, and South Africa. Marielle has taught at prestigious institutions such as the Gaelic College in Cape Breton and the College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts of Canada in Summerside. She has now opened her own dance school in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, which began operating in September 2017. Marielle has performed both as a solo artist and with various productions and musicians, including her founding membership in the highland dance company Change of Step. Marielle credits her success and passion for dance to her instructor of 20 years, Ellen Cameron, and to Janice Macquarrie, who she trained under while completing her Bachelor of Science in Physics at St. Francis Xavier University. Marielle also holds a Master's of Science in Medical Physics from Carleton University.
