Patrick Gillis

Patrick Gillis, a talented guitarist, grew up in Scotsville, Cape Breton, immersed in traditional music. His father, uncle, and brothers were all fiddle players who shared a deep passion for music, and young Patrick followed suit by learning to play the guitar. Despite being left-handed, he taught himself to play upside-down and backwards due to the lack of a left-handed guitar. Nevertheless, Patrick's skill on the guitar has made him one of the most sought-after musicians in Cape Breton.

Patrick has collaborated with some of Cape Breton's most renowned musicians, such as Natalie MacMaster, Ashley MacIsaac, and Glenn Graham. He has toured the United States with Cullin and performed extensively in Howie MacDonald's "Celtic Brew." As the guitarist for the popular Cape Breton group Beòlach, Patrick has recorded two albums with them- Beòlach in 2002 and Variations in 2004. He's played concerts and festivals across the United States, Canada, and Europe throughout his music career.
