John and Bill Pellerin

About John and Bill

Bill and John Pellerin are two brothers born and raised in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. At six, Bill began to dance, while John started at four. They received training from esteemed instructors such as Margaret Dunn, the late Rev. Angus MacDonnell, Ellen MacPherson, and Gary (MacPherson) Fiddler. At the age of ten, John began to play the fiddle under the guidance of Stan Chapman. Their father, Kenneth, is also a fiddle player who has played at dances in the Antigonish area for many years, and their family has passed on a great wealth of musical knowledge to them.

Their roots run deep in Cape Breton tradition, with their grandmother on their mother's side being a Beaton from the Mabou Coal Mines. Dancing and fiddling have taken Bill and John throughout Canada, the USA, and Ireland. They have had the privilege of performing alongside renowned artists such as Buddy MacMaster, Winnie Chafe, the late John Morris Rankin, Natalie MacMaster, and Ashley MacIsaac, among others. In 2010, the brothers opened the Celtic Colours show with Natalie MacMaster and went on to perform with the late Rita MacNeil.
