About Shelly
Shelly Campbell, a native of West Bay Road in Inverness County, has played traditional Cape Breton music for over three decades. Her musical influences include local fiddlers such as Stephanie Wills, Theresa MacLellan, Gertie Coffin, and Alex Francis MacKay. Shelly frequently performs at various local venues and events and is a crowd favourite at dances. Aside from music, Shelly is passionate about preserving the Gaelic language in Cape Breton and sits on the Celtic Music Interpretive Centre board. She has also contributed to developing the Féis Cape Breton program through the Centre. In addition to her musical pursuits, Shelly is a Junior High School math and science teacher and teaches Gaelic language classes from grades 4-9. Shelly's playing style is dynamic, lively, and graceful, firmly rooted in the traditional sounds of her upbringing.
